Queensland Sentencing and Information Service
From 1 July 2013, the Queensland Sentencing and Information Service will be published and managed by the Supreme Court of Queensland Library, following a five-month handover period from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
The Queensland Sentencing Information Service is a valued online legal research tool used by members of the judiciary and legal profession. It provides free sentencing comparatives as well as statistics relating to the pattern of sentences handed down by the courts for particular offences.
The Library is looking forward to this exciting opportunity to extend its research and information services.
Current Vacancy: Legal Research Officer — Sentencing Service
The Library is seeking a Legal Research Officer to coordinate the day-to-day operational activities of the Queensland Sentencing and Information Service.
The successful applicant will be an admitted practitioner with criminal law experience and will work closely with the Supreme Court Librarian to integrate the product with the Library’s existing suite of online research tools.
The position will be a flexible part-time role initially, with a view to increase to full-time from July 2013.

Volunteer environmental lawyers needed
Can you help?? Its only once a month. Environmental Defenders Office Qld still require 6 more lawyers to volunteer before we can open our telephone advice line.
We’re seeking lawyers with at least 2 years post admission experience in planning or environmental law to help staff our proposed telephone advice line starting mid-February. And yes we do full conflict of interest checks to protect our clients and volunteer solicitors too.
The commitment requested is one evening (5.30pm — 7.30pm) a month for 6 months, either Tuesday or Thursday at our West End office.
You will be supported by a staff solicitor, a keen student volunteer and the best quick snacks Sol Breads Bakery next door has to offer.
The rewards are helping out our clients- wonderful hard working volunteer community groups and individuals who are seeking to protect our natural environment. Sometimes they need help with access to information, or litigation processes, or planning, or how to stop pollution, or understanding acts such as the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, Environmental Protection Act 1994, or EPBC Act.

National Access to Justice and Pro Bono Conference
